Coffee as a Way of Life:

People, Communities, and Dreams

At APU SAS we understand that an extraordinary cup of coffee is defined not only by its aroma and flavor, but also by the well-being of the hands that make it possible. For us, specialty coffee is a way of life where people, communities, experiences, and dreams intertwine.
Our commitment to a more equitable society and to environmental preservation is an organic endeavor; we have never sought anything beyond what we can contribute to our community. However, this genuine effort has caught the attention of the outside world, earning us valuable recognition that inspires us to continue believing in the power of our ideas.

I. The Heartbeat of the Farm:

Reservation

  • Forty percent of our estate is designated as a forest reserve, which supports local flora and fauna and helps conserve endangered animals such as the spectacled bear and certain species of monkeys.
  • A Sustainable Ecosystem in the Shade:
Our crops grow in harmony beneath a diverse forest canopy. We coexist with native trees, fruit trees, banana plants, wildflowers, a wide variety of heliconias, guamo, chachafruto, yarumo, bamboo, and rubber trees, among many others. This ecosystem not only enriches the soil and the coffee’s flavor profile but also provides a safe haven and abundant food for the mountain’s wildlife.
II. The Heart of Our Community:

Equity and Education

  • Women's Empowerment from the Beginning:
We firmly believe in leadership, sensitivity, and fairness. That is why women make up 99% of the workforce at our APU coffee shop, complemented by a very high and valuable proportion of women working in agriculture on our farm.
  • Sowing the Future:

Coffee culture depends on our children and young people, which is why our company supports programs that foster a culture of specialty coffee consumption and knowledge of the coffee industry among the younger generation. We lead the Chapoleritos project, which aims to show what coffee is, where it comes from, and how it is processed.

We support sports, social, and cultural programs to help ensure a better future for our children and young people.
